My Honest History Co-Author Review: Co-Author Finally Goes Nonfiction
A complete research-and-writing framework that turns Claude or ChatGPT into your co-researcher for narrative history — sources, structure, continuity and chapter-by-chapter writing.
Here's a number that surprised me. In YouGov's 2025 reading survey, 30% of Americans who read a book that year read history — ahead of fantasy, ahead of romance, ahead of thrillers.
Now think about how much AI-writing software is aimed at fiction, and how little is aimed at that. There's a reason for the gap, and it isn't demand. It's that nonfiction is hard in a way fiction isn't: you can invent a dragon, but you can't invent what happened at a battle in 1813. Someone will check.
History Co-Author is Soren Jordansen's answer to that — the third in the Co-Author family after Cozy and Steamy, and the first one pointed at nonfiction. The interesting part isn't the writing. It's the research. Let me break it down.

Why Most People Never Write The History Book They Want To
Nearly everyone has a subject they'd love to write about. A conflict, a figure, a forgotten disaster, their own family's story. Almost nobody does it, and it's for three specific reasons:
The three walls:
The research
Where do the sources even live? Which are reliable? What do you do when two accounts flatly contradict each other?
The shape
You end up with a mountain of notes and no idea what the book actually is. Most projects die here.
The writing
Accurate but dull. Facts in date order isn't a book — it's a timeline, and nobody finishes one.
That's the honest reason this product exists. It's not "AI writes your book." It's a structured process for getting from I'm interested in this to I have a researched, readable manuscript — with you making the decisions at every step.
What Exactly Is History Co-Author?
It's a complete framework that turns Claude or ChatGPT into a co-researcher and co-author for narrative history. Not a one-shot prompt — a guided process covering subject selection, finding and evaluating sources, shaping the book, and writing it chapter by chapter.
The research side is what separates it from every fiction tool in this family. It helps you find sources, question their reliability, compare conflicting accounts, and record the evidence behind each claim. Then the writing side turns that evidence into actual scenes — real people, difficult decisions, consequences — rather than a chronology.
It runs on five working documents that carry your project forward and keep everything consistent as the manuscript grows:
That continuity tracking is the unglamorous feature that matters most. By chapter nine, a history manuscript has dozens of names, dates and decisions in play — and the thing that ruins an otherwise good book is contradicting yourself on page 180.
It also produces the material around the story that makes a history book look like a history book: a cast of characters, notes on names and sources, chapter-organised notes, and a selected bibliography — all built from the sources you actually used.
How It Works — 4 Steps
Choose the subject
You bring the interest. The framework helps narrow a broad fascination into a subject with a clear angle and a defined readership.
Research and critique the sources
Find material, assess how reliable it is, compare accounts that disagree, and record what the evidence actually supports — into the Research Bible.
Shape the book
Turn the research into a structure: the cast, the chronology, the chapter outline, and the narrative decisions that make it a story rather than a list.
Write it chapter by chapter
Write with continuity tracked across the manuscript, then generate the front and back matter — cast, notes, bibliography — from the sources behind it.
A Closer Look At What's Inside
📐 The Narrative History Framework
The core: a Setup Prompt, a Style Pack and a Writing Framework covering research, planning and chapter-by-chapter writing. This is the method, not a prompt pack.
🛠️ Narrative History Studio (included free)
Plugins for Claude Cowork and ChatGPT Work that automate much of the file handling and workflow, so you spend your time on decisions rather than shuffling documents between chats.
🔍 Guided Research & Source Critique
Help finding sources, evaluating reliability, comparing conflicting accounts and recording the evidence behind the book. For my money this is the most valuable part of the whole product.
📑 Source-Based Front & Back Matter
A cast of characters, notes on names and sources, chapter-organised notes and a selected bibliography — the apparatus that signals to a reader that the book is serious.
📚 Three Real Books To Inspect
Three published narrative-history books written with this framework, with free samples on Amazon. You can read the actual prose before you buy — which is more than most launches in this space offer.
The Full Funnel — What Each Part Adds
The $17 front end is the complete framework plus training and the Studio. Everything after it is optional — here's the honest map:
History Co-Author — $17
The Narrative History framework (Setup Prompt, Style Pack, Writing Framework), the complete training, and the Narrative History Studio plugin. Works with Claude or ChatGPT. Price rises to at least $27 after launch, though the product stays available.
Ghostwriting License — $27
Rights to use the whole system commercially — write history books for clients, sell ghostwriting services, produce branded books. Only worth it if you'd genuinely pursue client work; it does nothing for your own publishing.
History Genre Vault — $67
Six additional history-adjacent nonfiction frameworks plus the training to deploy them. This is the catalog upgrade — it turns one method into several nonfiction directions you can publish into.
History Editor — $47
A framework and training that hands the manual editing pass to Claude or GPT as well. Honest take: editing a nonfiction manuscript yourself is genuinely tedious, so this one earns its place faster than most upgrades.
Cover Creator — $67 (or $97 bundled with the A+ Author Toolkit)
A kit for making ebook covers that sell, plus A+ content for Amazon listings in the bundled version. History covers have strong genre conventions and getting them wrong is costly — this matters more in nonfiction than people expect.
Promo Stacker — $57
A guide and case studies on promoting books via book newsletter sites, list building and more. The traffic layer — which no writing tool includes by default.
KDP Club — $14.99/mo ($1 trial) or $147/year
A KDP-focused community with weekly group sessions with Soren. The only recurring item in the funnel — note that, and only keep it if you'll actually attend. The $1 trial makes it easy to find out.
My honest advice: start on the $17 front end and take one book from idea to finished draft. If you're serious about publishing nonfiction regularly, the Genre Vault and the Editor are the two upgrades that change your output. Everything else can wait until you've actually published once.
My Real Take
I've published 37+ books on Amazon and I've reviewed a lot of AI writing tools. Most of them share a flaw: they produce text that reads fine and says nothing. That's survivable in fiction, where the reader wants a feeling. It's fatal in history, where the reader wants to know what happened.
What makes this one worth covering is that the research is treated as the product. Finding sources, judging whether they're reliable, working through accounts that contradict each other, and recording the evidence behind each claim — that's the part that intimidates aspiring history writers, and it's the part most tools skip entirely because it's hard to automate and hard to demo.
The five working documents are the other quiet win. A history manuscript accumulates names, dates, places and decisions at a rate fiction doesn't, and the way these projects usually fail isn't dramatic — it's a contradiction on page 180 that a reviewer spots and mentions publicly. Tracking continuity in a structured way is unglamorous and it's exactly right.
I also rate that there are three published books written with this framework, with free samples on Amazon. You can read the prose before you spend seventeen dollars. Very few launches in this space let you inspect the actual output.
Now the Raw & Real part, and it's the most important paragraph on this page. AI language models can state wrong dates, misattribute quotes, conflate two people with similar names, and — the dangerous one — produce citations for sources that don't exist. In fiction that costs you nothing. In history it costs you your book's credibility and your reviews, because history readers are among the most pedantic on Amazon, and they will check. This framework's source-critique process reduces that risk considerably, but nothing removes your obligation to verify what ends up in print under your name. That's exactly why one of my bonuses is a fact-check auditor you run over the finished manuscript.
And one practical note: this is a framework for AI you already use, not standalone software. You'll need a Claude or ChatGPT account, and the Studio plugins are built for Claude Cowork and ChatGPT Work specifically — so check what your current plan includes before you assume the workflow automation is available to you.

My Exclusive Bonuses
History Co-Author gives you the research process and the writing method. My bonuses cover everything either side of it — the platform to build the books in, the tools to keep them accurate, and the system to actually get them found.
Royalty Profits AI
Buy through my link and I'll set you up with a free Royalty Profits AI account — my own KDP publishing platform. It's where you build and run the books themselves.
Here's why the pairing works. History Co-Author is a method — it teaches your AI how to research properly and write narrative history well. Royalty Profits AI is the platform: a place to generate and produce your books, keep your whole catalog in one dashboard, and stop re-entering the same details on every title.
🗂️ Campaign Dashboard
Every book you create in one place instead of scattered files and folders.
⚙️ Book Creation Engine
Generate books across non-fiction and other formats, built for KDP from the start.
👤 Default Author Profile
Set your pen name and bio ONCE — reused on every book after it.
🎭 Character & World Libraries
Build your recurring cast and setting once and reuse them across a series.
🌍 12-Language Translator
One click turns the book you already wrote into listings in up to 12 languages.
💡 Why it matters: the framework teaches you to research and write. This is where you actually produce and manage what comes out of it — and the translator is the part most people underestimate. A researched history book, listed in twelve languages, from work you already did once.
⚙️ 100% SOFTWARE-BASED — eight real interactive tools, not PDFs. No API keys, no extra AI accounts, nothing to connect — they run instantly in your browser alongside whatever AI you're already using.
🔍 Fact-Check & Citation Auditor
Upload your manuscript (.txt, .md, .docx). The auditor extracts every claim and citation, flags failure modes, and builds a copy-ready audit report. No hallucinations — because it checks your words, not its own.
💡 Why it matters: history readers check. One wrong date in a one-star review follows a book forever, and no amount of good prose outruns it. Run this before anything goes to Amazon.
🗺️ History Topic Goldmine
50 hand-picked underserved subjects, each with the angle, the reader, and why the shelf is empty. Score any topic on 7 factors and know before you write whether it's a book or a dead end.
💡 Why it matters: "I love history" isn't a book. This is the step between a broad interest and a subject narrow enough to finish and specific enough to sell.
📚 Source & Archive Finder
A curated directory of archives, libraries and databases — with access notes, a source-reliability rater, and a research log that keeps your citations tidy.
💡 Why it matters: the framework teaches you to critique sources. This tells you where the sources live in the first place — and most of the best ones are free.
🖼️ Images & Permissions Navigator
Find image sources, get a plain-English rights verdict, and record every credit. Includes the "not legal advice" guardrails every serious history book needs.
💡 Why it matters: images lift a history book enormously — and using the wrong one is a genuine legal problem, not a style mistake. Most people guess here. Don't.
🎁 Author Promo Site Generator
Fill in a form, get a complete one-page book website — cover, hook, endorsements, buy links. Download the single .html and host it anywhere. Netlify deploy guide included.
💡 Why it matters: every promotion you run needs somewhere to send people that isn't straight to Amazon. Podcast hosts, historical societies and newsletters all want a link to your book — this gives you one in about ten minutes, for free.
🎯 History Reader Outreach Kit
Where history readers actually gather, pitch templates that offer value (never beg), and a contact tracker so your outreach actually gets followed up.
💡 Why it matters: history has the most organised, passionate niche communities of any category. A book on a specific conflict has readers who already gather in one place — if you know where to look.
📣 Free Book Promotion Channels
The free channels that move history books — with a traffic playbook and a setup checklist that tracks every asset you stand up.
💡 Why it matters: the funnel's promo upgrade covers paid newsletters. This covers the channels that cost nothing but time — which is where most authors should start.
📅 90-Day Free Traffic Sprint
A 13-week, day-by-day plan to take a published book from zero to found. Daily habits, weekly milestones, progress that compounds.
💡 Why it matters: most authors publish, promote for four days, then stop. This turns promotion into a routine rather than a burst of panic in launch week.

- KDP publishers looking to move beyond low-content into real books
- People researching family or local history who need help shaping it

✗ Not for
- Anyone wanting to publish without checking facts for themselves

Ready To Write The Book You've Been Reading About For Years?
A structured path from a subject you love to a researched, readable manuscript — plus a free account on my own publishing platform, and the tools to get the finished book found.
Get History Co-Author + My BonusesMy Bottom Line
History Co-Author earns the recommendation because it goes after the hard half. Anyone can prompt an AI to write prose; almost nobody has built a process for finding sources, judging them, resolving contradictions and keeping a long nonfiction manuscript coherent. That's the work that stops people writing the history book they've always wanted to write, and this is a structured way through it.
Go in knowing two things: the research is genuinely work, and you are responsible for verifying every fact that carries your name. Accept both and $17 for the framework, the training and the Studio is a straightforward decision — especially with three finished books on Amazon you can read before you commit, a free account on my platform to produce the result in, and a complete promotion system for when the book is live.
Your Questions, Answered
❓ Do I need to be a historian?
No — but you do need genuine interest in your subject, because you're making every judgement call. The framework guides the research, the structure and the writing; it doesn't replace your curiosity or your willingness to check things.
❓ Which AI do I need?
Claude or ChatGPT — it works with either. The included Narrative History Studio plugins are built for Claude Cowork and ChatGPT Work specifically, so check what your current plan covers before assuming the workflow automation is available to you. The framework itself works regardless.
❓ Won't the AI just make things up?
It can, and this is the question that matters most. AI models state wrong dates, misattribute quotes and sometimes produce citations for sources that don't exist. The source-critique process in this framework reduces that risk substantially by grounding claims in recorded evidence — but it does not remove your responsibility to verify what goes out under your name. That's precisely why my Fact-Check & Citation Auditor exists: you upload the finished manuscript and it extracts every claim and citation for checking. It examines your words, not its own, so it can't hallucinate at you.
❓ What's the free Royalty Profits AI account, and how does it fit?
Royalty Profits AI is my own KDP publishing platform, and buyers through my link get a free account. The two tools do different jobs: History Co-Author is the method — it teaches your AI to research properly and write narrative history well. Royalty Profits AI is the platform — a campaign dashboard holding every book you create, a default author profile so you set your pen name and bio once, character and world libraries for recurring material across a series, and a one-click translator into up to 12 languages.
❓ The funnel already has a promo upgrade. Why do your promotion bonuses matter?
They cover different ground. The Promo Stacker upgrade is largely about book newsletter sites and list building — useful, and often paid. My four promotion tools cover the free channels, the subject-community outreach that's specific to history readers, a 90-day routine so you don't stop after week one, and a one-page book website you can generate and host for nothing.
❓ Can I see what History Co-Author actually produces?
Yes, and I'd do this before buying. Three narrative-history books written with this framework are published on Amazon with free samples — you can read the prose and judge the research for yourself. That's a rare thing in this space and worth ten minutes.
❓ How long does a book actually take?
Longer than a fiction tool would suggest, and I'd rather be straight with you about that. The research is real work — finding sources, comparing accounts, deciding what the evidence supports. The framework removes the structural confusion and the blank page; it doesn't remove the hours.
❓ Is there really an audience for history books?
Bigger than most people assume. YouGov's 2025 reading survey found 30% of Americans who read a book that year read history — ahead of fantasy, romance and thrillers. And history readers tend to be devoted to specific subjects, which is exactly what my outreach bonus is built around.
❓ I bought Cozy or Steamy Co-Author. Is this a repeat?
No. Same family and same underlying philosophy, but fiction and nonfiction are different jobs. Everything here that deals with sources, evidence, contradictions, citations and bibliographies simply doesn't exist in the fiction versions, because fiction doesn't need it.
❓ Which upgrades are worth it?
My honest read: the History Editor ($47) if you'll publish more than once, because editing nonfiction by hand is the most tedious part of the job. The Genre Vault ($67) if you want a catalog rather than one book. Cover Creator ($67/$97) matters more in nonfiction than people expect. The Ghostwriting License ($27) only if you'd genuinely do client work. And KDP Club is the one recurring item — there's a $1 trial, so find out whether you'll attend before committing.
❓ How do I claim your bonuses?
Purchase through any link on this page and everything is delivered alongside your purchase: your free Royalty Profits AI account plus all eight tools in the History Author Suite. $677 total. The suite runs in your browser with no API keys or extra AI accounts needed. Any issues, reach out via d-papa.com and I'll sort it personally.
